dog days

this has got to stop! we're treating chompers like a child!

we've quit going out, almost altogether, since we don't wanna leave chompers alone! last nite i nearly had to kidnap my wife just to get her to go to the movies with me, and she made me apologize to her AND chompers when we got home for seeing such a bad movie (smokin' aces) instead of spending time with our baby girl!

i walk in the door from work, nearly every day, to find my wife having a fifteen to twenty minute conversation with chompers, albeit in baby talk, but when i ask her how her day was, she just kinda grunts at me!

and to make matters worse, chompers has taken my spot in bed! like it isn't bad enough hearing my wife say that she has love for chompers equal to or greater than her love for me!

today, however, we hit an all-time low! my wife started emailing me at work, and then calling me when i didn't respond, asking if we could buy chompers a back-to-school pup pack,

or a sporty fleece pullover,

or canine cargo shorts!

i, of course, said no to all of the above! but i do kinda like the base camp parka,

and the lobster paws costume!

the ice storm

the chiefs lost, the midwest froze over, and i finally got a comment, so i guess it's time for another post.

not a whole lot else has happened since 2006 became 2007. i think i'm going through some sorta winter depression, though. how's that for a topic?

work is working me over. chompers is slowly taking my place in the family unit. i'm gaining weight instead of losing it. fun these days is creating a playlist for my bad moods on my ipod. and i've taken up napping again.

spring really can't get here fast enough.

it's the end of the world as we know it ...

the chiefs are in the playoffs? the chiefs are in the playoffs! i had given up the team for dead at least three weeks ago. now, they're just an LJ train away from a showdown with the chargers to get to the afc championship!

happy new year! how were your holidays?

ours were busy, as usual. i can't complain though. we've got three families to hit, and three sets of presents to get! that's what i say. thanksgiving and three turkey meals is much worse.

for christmas, i got a vintage popcorn maker, at least 4 new snazzy shirt-tie combos, and a couch. love and marriage, love and marriage.

chompers, on the other hand, made out the best of the mcdoers. at last count, she received 3 pink stuffed animals (to make up for the death of pink bear), 2 rope toys, a squeeky train, a soccer ball, a meaty shoulder blade of a large, unidentified animal, and a red leather coach collar.

as far as new year's resolutions go, 2006 was a good year. i quit smoking for good. we got a new car, a new house and a new dog. we also went to boston, nantucket and new york city. this year, i want to spend less money. i also want to lose weight (at least 10 pounds, and i don't care how it comes off), go to more rock n' roll shows, and be a better husband and friend.

oh, and i'd like it if the chiefs won the super bowl!
